Beginning Tuesday, September 22, 2020 the Seymour Public Library will open, Monday thru Friday, during the hours of 11am to 4:00pm, by appointment, for limited computer access only. Appointments will be for 60 minutes a day. Patrons are allowed one session per day. A maximum of eleven (11) patrons may be in the building at a time.


Our children’s room, DVD area, and all stacks remain closed during this time period.

To adhere to State and local mandates, the following protocols must be observed at all times both in the building and on library grounds without exception to keep staff and the public safe during this time period.

To be eligible for entry into the building or to speak to staff on the library grounds the following protocols must be observed.

1. Masks, that cover mouth and nose, are REQUIRED to speak to staff enter the building, and during your entire library visit- NO EXCEPTIONS. You MUST wear masks that cover your mouth and nose during your entire visit. NO EXCEPTIONS.

2. Social distancing of 6 ft at all times must be observed on the library grounds and in the building by both the public and staff.

3. Confirmed Appointment: You will need to make an appointment by contacting us ahead of time to reserve a computer during our designated computer use hours and receive a confirmation of the appointment:

11 am to 4 pm ( last appt 3:00pm each day. Computers shut down at 4pm)

* If demand and space allows, we will try to fit in walk-ups. Confirmed appointments are the only way we can guarantee entry.

4. One hour time limit for appointments. We have 6 computers and 2 library catalogs.

5. Headphones– bring your own headphones. The library cannot supply headphones at this time.

6. Restrooms are available on the main public floor-only. Restroom use is included in your 60 minutes of time.

7. Limited contactless UNASSISTED printing may be available. Exact change is required.

8. No Public Seating– Other than computer stations, there is no public seating in the library and newspapers are not available for viewing.

9. Staff are unable to provide direct assistance at the computer stations due to social distancing mandates.

Other than the lobby and computer area, all other sections of the library are closed to the public. All materials are still available via curbside delivery. You may use the public catalogs to make your selections, but the library staff will continue to retrieve all items.

Please continue to return items in the outside book drops so we can maintain quarantine guidelines.

These rules as well as the current Patron Behavior Policy must be adhered to while on the library grounds or in the building.
